Our Walking Group assembled near The Station and after a lovely 4 mile walk in the area enjoyed an excellent lunch. Table booking is recommended as this is a popular venue, particularly in the summer.Owners Steve and Mary Biss have made this a welcoming Cafe Bar, Restaurant and Tea House. The homemade cakes on display in the entrance hall, are mouth watering and certainly worth getting fat for!

We had an assortment of dishes, varying from French onion soup £4.50, to mushroom stroganoff £8.75 and sausage and mash £9.75. See their website for menus; the choice is good, along with the Daily Special Board.

We had drinks and coffee and obviously had to try the home made desserts for research purposes! A lemon meringue pie with clotted cream £5.35 and two chose special shortcake that had a layer of caramel between the biscuit and chocolate topping £1.75, both very delicious!

Come the summer they will be opening for evening meals and as they have a large outside area what could be better than sipping a large glass of your choice al fresco whilst awaiting your evening meal?
