The Gin Bar & other delights!

February 14, 2013

When I get home I cant wait to take a trip to Oxfordshire, Woodstock to be exact, and visit The Feathers Hotel where I have discovered they have The Gin Bar! I quote from their website…….
FEATHERS Gin List - The FEATHERS“Of all the gin joints in all the world, there isn’t another one like the bar at The Feathers. Seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve tasted the Ultimate Gin & Tonic – a measure of Blackwood’s Vintage Gin from an individually numbered bottle, topped up with Q, the world’s most exotic tonic water, and ice cubes made from local spring water.”

They have a Guinness World Record – Largest Selection of Gins in the World and they even have The Gin Experience menu! I haven’t been so excited for a long time…. G & T fans will appreciate how I feel. So far our best G & T experiences have been: No1 at Verviene (recently revisited and still up to its very high standard!) when Jon served us Hendricks & tonic with the usual accompaniment of cucumber but with his secret ingredient, a twist or two of back pepper. No2 at The Montagu Arms, Cedric the restaurant manager (ex Limewood & Chewton Glen) greeted us and excitedly presented us with the most unusual G & T’s; he was delighted that we had never tasted nor even heard of Bloom gin before.  It is very fragrant and looked stunning in its signature long stem glasses… very sex in the city! (The glasses that is, sadly not the drinkers!)

Residents of Milford on Sea really are so lucky; they have such a large choice of excellent restaurants in their midst and we have just reviewed yet another one. SA enjoyed a lovely family Sunday lunch at The Raft. She would definitely recommend  for its relaxed ambiance and its delicious and freshly made food. She also loved the décor.

SM has revisited Aspire yet again! It is the student run restaurant at Southampton College and is usually very good (depends which students are running it) and excellent value for money. She also reviewed The Cleveland Bay in Chandlers Ford and found the food to be good and not at all like a chain pub. It’s very family orientated, great venue for the summer with a large garden and children’s playground.

BengalSage.133147 Just heard from the owner Miff that The Bengal Sage in Winchester has just had a refurb…. “The cosy intimate space is embellished with a fresh modern look that incorporates heritage magnificently – rather like the new menu!”

Bengal Sage and Miffs other 2 restaurants, Bangkok Brasserie & Kyoto Kitchen are in our Discount Directory. Check their offers out here! To buy a Ladies who Lunch Discount Card, they are only £15, a one off payment, no annual fee, click HERE

And now I must go and prepare for a Valentine dinner with my husband, our son and his wife. We are going to Hellenika, its Greek and has a wonderful reputation, cant wait. Also wish me luck, we have our g’kids for a sleep over this w’end, Saturday morning – Sunday afternoon, I’m exhausted just thinking about it!
